Romeo Taylor did not sign this work, but it is very clearly his: the
fine details of the clothing, which form strange, abstract patterns, and
the fine lines, along with the metaphysical theme and racial anguish mark
it as his. Here, a black man in Shakespearean costume sheds a single tear
while standing in a barren field outside his castle. This painting apparently
refers to Shakespeare's great play, "Othello." |
